Contests I have entered, contests I have won - 2023 Area Contest, Table Topics 2nd place, Humorous speech 3rd Place

2019 I was in the International Speech contest on 16th MARCH 2019 aT pHILIPS cAPITAL rICHARD sNG WON BOTH TABLE TOPICS WAS ON A QUOTATION WHICH i IDENTIFIED. November 2023 UK District   Table Topics  I was second for Harrovians (Lauren of my other club, HOD, was first) The topic was - I woke to hear my dog talking. I said what a wonderful topic, just right for me, because I have written a book on this subject. I was inspired by a member of the monkey or ape family which learned 300 words in captivity. The baby listened in and also learned the words. Humorous speech contest I was third (despite being shut out of the contest half way though my speech) My speech was on language. My greatest challenge was staying awake and having energy and varied tone, no monotone, despite being awake so late. the contest was on November 8th Wednesday 2023, Area District. Online BHA January 2023 - Icebreaker from Angela on Promoting Yourself

  January 11th Wednesday 2023 I had little time to prepare my speech for the evening meeting of BHA in Singapore which was online because I was busy in London in the middle of my working day and lunch time. I had several pre-speech tasks:  1 Find the zoo login and password, login on zoom,  2 adjust the camera, and my chair position,  3 choose my new Pathway (because I had just finished a Pathway) send the evaluation form to the evaluator,  4 write my introduction in the chat box,   5 ask for or locate the chapter meeting program in whatsapp group and print it in order to verify my evaluator's name, and the TMD in order to hand back at the end of my speech.    I was asked by the TMD to write my introduction in the chat box. I knew the speech I wanted to give. it was buy my book Improve Your English. I focused on what did I want the audience to do at the end of my speech. The importance of keeping to time

 In a Facebook forum somebody said that the five to seven minute speech length is too contricting and does not fit longer speeches required in the real world. 1 In the real world time limits are often imposed. If the building's caretaker wants to go home he might switch off the lights or even close the gates and lock you in, or a pub could close its car park and lock in your cars. At one meeting the children for a ballet class about to use the room walked in and started changing into their ballet clothes. When i was speaking on radio, the programme ended with the on the hour news. The ten o clock news was not going to start at ten past ten to please me. The programme controller switched off our microphones and switched to the newsroom. On another occasion, the fir alarm went off during a speech. The speaker had 30 seconds to finish his sentence before people started jumping up, calling to each other to leave.

  You can have your evaluation evaluated as one of your projects in Level one of any Pathway. You can speak to your speaker when you are evaluating and remind them to give sources. If not, afterwards or even during the break you can check on statistics and sources. For example, I looked up some statistics on job interviews. Harrovians Best Table Topics Speaker and Shared Best Evaluator

 Harrovians was the first Toastmasters club I joined in the UK in 2004. i was introduced to toastmasters International Harrovian Speakers club by my good, long-standing friend Indra who was talking to me Harrow writers Circle. When I showed him my book on Wedding Speeches & Toasts, he immediately said, with glee, 'you must come along to Toastmasters!' This week on Monday 19th July 2022, Harrovians had to switch their planned in person meeting to wholly online because of the heatwave, unprecedented temperatures of 32 degrees Celsius, which is nearly 90 % F. Hottest night.  Road are melting. Cars are overheating and catching fire. Fields are burning. Crops are being destroyed. Smoke is blowing across roads. Harvests are being destroyed by fire. Heat is killing plants and fruit and vegetables and crops are destroyed by too many insects and rats.  Railway lines are buckling.  Adults are diving into rivers and drowning.
