Online BHA January 2023 - Icebreaker from Angela on Promoting Yourself

I had little time to prepare my speech for the evening meeting of BHA in Singapore which was online because I was busy in London in the middle of my working day and lunch time.

I had several pre-speech tasks: 

1 Find the zoo login and password, login on zoom, 

2 adjust the camera, and my chair position, 

3 choose my new Pathway (because I had just finished a Pathway) send the evaluation form to the evaluator, 

4 write my introduction in the chat box, 

5 ask for or locate the chapter meeting program in whatsapp group and print it in order to verify my evaluator's name, and the TMD in order to hand back at the end of my speech.   

I was asked by the TMD to write my introduction in the chat box.

I knew the speech I wanted to give. it was buy my book Improve Your English.

I focused on what did I want the audience to do at the end of my speech. I wanted them to know about my latest book and to consider buying it. I needed a prop. I had a copy of the book, so I put it on the table where I could reach it and hold it up to show the cover.

My evaluator was Oscar 

He commended my personal story.

My feedback was write about the struggle.

In retrospect, what could have done differently, better, or added in a longer 5 to 7 minute speech? I should have written a link to the buying page on Amazon in the chat box.

What I have I learned? I should also have a link to Amazon from my Facebook page.
