She and we were delighted.

Committee and Members Present
Five people were present. President Angela Lansbury, Treasurer 'John' who renamed himself John Junior because we were joined by two recent members, Mike, who has attended other committee meetings, and is likely to take on a committee role, and John Boon.

Also present was observer Yudy, of Learncool,  which manages our site for three or four meetings on Wednesdays. We thanked him for spending a lot of time helping us all get familiar with the online system. On this occasion Yudy spent extra time helping member John Boon who had to install on a mobile phone.

This is more difficult because fewer symbols are visible without swiping, and it is easier to accidentally swipe the wrong symbol. Also on a mobile you currently have to download the Learncool app, whereas online on a laptop you can type into google the shortened code tinyurl.com/BHACOOL

Financial Report
Income -  Membership Payments
Our club's income is from the membership fees. We have 12 paid up members. Members are encouraged to pay for a full year. That way they get more benefit from the club. Less work renewing half way through the year. More likely to be committed and form long friendships good for socialising and network.

John explained to our newer members, after we pay to Toastmasters International for the year (about 45 dollars per half year per member) we have little money left over for a venue and other expenses.

Trophies for winners of contests, printing certificates for winners, participants and helpers, programmes for posters, and buying food for regular meetings and the summer and Xmas parties.

Longterm Outgoings (And Intermittent Expenses)
Because of the uncertainty of being able to meet in a physical venue, and the fact that Braddell Heights Community Centre is renovating in September and will be closed for as long as two years, we have not paid money out for the venue.

Payment For Physical Venue
Our venue takes 30 Singapore dollars per person. This leaves us with hardly any money.

One club, Changi Simei, (also in Division S) gives every new member a red tee-shirt with the name of the Toastmasters club on it. This gift is an incentive to join, advertises the club, and creates a sense of belonging.

Angela described how some clubs get a free room at the Community Club by doing the management favours, such as being MC once or twice a year, on National Day, following a script supplied by the

Before Covid-19 some clubs met in rooms in churches (two Christian clubs), or in condos, or in members' homes. Even if lockdown allows gatherings of up to 10 people, some members are likely to want non family members to visit their homes.

John

John our treasurer discussed our finances. Although I have heard of clubs which spend all their money so that the new committee starts with zero, like starting a new business, it is a good idea to leave money to the new club committee. They might need to pay in advance to book a venue for the years, or any other large expense.

We discussed whether our club was likely to go back to a physical venue and if so when.
