The General Evaluator's Job and How the Toastmaster of the Day can help

In theory all the roles are described on the TI website. So everybody could and should read up on these roles. No need to rely on a mentor to tell you what to do.

The president or TMD would make sure a newcomer or novice realises that their main job as General Evaluator (GE for short) is to evaluate the evaluators. Tell the GE the timing.

The first time I was GE I talked about finding the venue, the program sheet, the Toastmasters of the day, the food at the interval ... I was cut short because the meeting was running late. So  I never reached the evaluators who were disappointed.

An experienced Toastmaster of the Day often either clarifies each role taker's job privately or announces it before they speak.

The job of the speakers is to evaluate to the speakers. The job of the GE is to help the evaluators improve. (To encourage people to take up the evaluator role and learn to do it well and better.)

In some clubs, the GE introduces the evaluators, timer and ah counter. The GE returns to introduce the final section of the meeting and to evaluate these roles.
