Presidents Distinguished Club - Congratulations to President Yenny and the team

2022 was another great year for Braddell Heights Advanced.

What is it?

Your club gains points for these achievements:

1 The club gaining members.

2 Members completing levels of Pathways.

(Pathways is a bit like learning English at school. Think of it as passing five tests or getting an award for two to five pieces of homework, which include reading instructions, completing the written assignment and giving a speech at a meeting.)

How did we do it?

I shall ask President Yenny, and our club coaches Vincent and Lim Tong Lee.

Friendship and Fellowship

To retain members, you speak to them at meetings, before, in the interval or afterwards. You speak to them on the phone or message them in WhatsApp or contact them on Facebook or twitter or gmail or other media.

You answer them promptly. At least with one word, noted. You send thanks and happy birthday. And where were you, are you ok?

You organize meetings and meetups at least once a month and ideally weekly.

You discuss club information, events, decision, in public so everybody feels involved.

You discuss private worries and events privately so as not to worry and depress members and bystanders, but keep participants consoled and comforted.

You volunteer to help other clubs in roles. If you cannot, you thank them for the invitation, regret not being able to attend and send good wishes.

You praise other clubs publicly at privately and encourage keep in touch with former members and guests so that if their club closes you can quickly offer them a welcome to your club.

Is there anything to avoid?

Yes. Try to minimize and eventually eliminate>

Criticizing Toastmasters and Pathways and other clubs and members. Make sure you praise, suggest improvements and end with praise. Denigrating another club by saying yours is better. They are good, excellent, for those living in their area, or working with their committee, or following their prize winners, but you offer extra to those who live in the area, or friends and colleagues who they already know.

Allow visitors to give one or two speeches, but keep regular spots with priority for members so that there is an incentive to join your club.

PR - add photos to Facebook. Add praise for the club and its achievement.
